Michael Bailey

Michael Bailey is the intake attorney at Pennsylvania Institutional Law Project (PILP) where he provides legal advice to hundreds of incarcerated people every year. He assists incarcerated people in civil rights cases in federal court and custody matters in the Family Court of Philadelphia. Michael grew up in Harrisburg, PA, and moved to Philadelphia to attend Temple University where he earned a Bachelor of Science in Education. After graduating from Rutgers-Camden Law School, Michael co-managed a community space in West Philadelphia and spent time working as a small business owner, mover, farmer, and housing counselor. In 2011, Michael began volunteering with the Pennsylvania Innocence Project and PILP and his volunteer work led to him being hired as a paralegal at PILP, and he was subsequently admitted to the Bar in Pennsylvania in 2014. In addition to his legal work at PILP, Michael assists Volunteers for Indigent Persons (VIP) where he works on probate matters.
